Unity 3D for Flash Developers Tutorial Series and Cheat Sheet

In case this series got by under your radar, Ethical Games has been writing a series of video tutorials (also available in high def) about Unity titled “Unity For Flash Developers“. For those of you on the fence about whether to add Unity to your toolset check out 13 Reasons for Flash Developers to Learn Unity3D. The tutorial series Unity 3D Tutorials for Flash Developersat Ethical Games provides a Flash Developer with a seamless transition into the world of scripting Unity. The scripting is done in JavaScript Not your Daddy’s Javascript- as he points out). The constant reference to analogous Flash features makes the whole environment feel more familiar. It’s as if you took the Flash IDE and added a third dimension, the ability to apply forces, a full featured physics engine, hardware acceleration…

The following are the Tutorials:

  1. Unity For Flash Developers-tutorial 1 Getting set up and background- create a cube and learn move, scale, and rotate.
  2. Unity For Flash Developers- tutorial 2- Getting Started- Create and attach a basic Javascript to control your cube in Unity 3D Environment. The error console is also introduced
  3. Unity For Flash Developers tutorial 3- Prefabs- Introduces creating multiple scripted cube instances as well as using overrides for unique instance attributes. Also visits creating and destroying prefabs with code
  4. Unity for Flash Developers Tutorial 4- Basic Mouse Interaction Handling and Drag and Drop
  5. Unity for Flash Developers Tutorial 5Using UnityGUI OnGUI() to create in-game buttons and handle interaction to alter scene elements
  6. Unity For Flash Developers Tutorial 6- Basic Physics
  7. Unity For Flash Developers Tutorial 7- Collision detection- covers adding a Rigidbody to the game object and using the Rigidbody.AddForce() method and OnCollisionEnter()

    Looks like some nice unity tutorials. However, diamondtearz – you might want to actually proofread your content. The number of obvious errors in the post you linked makes it look like one of those pagerank farming blogs that just spams mangled links to a bunch of URLs.

    Looks like some nice unity tutorials. However, diamondtearz – you might want to actually proofread your content. The number of obvious errors in the post you linked makes it look like one of those pagerank farming blogs that just spams mangled links to a bunch of URLs.
