Build iPhone Apps & Run Unity 2 on your PC- Enter the OSX86 Project

Legal Disclaimer: I am not endorsing Iatkos5i or any of these methods. This is more a collection of experiences that I have come across. In theory with this setup one would be able to develop iPhone applications using the iPhone SDK, and use the current Unity version while working on a PC to develop Wii and iPhone Applications. I make no promises or guarantees for any of this- I’m just passing along the resources and providing you with a Google session starting point.

  1. Read about 0SX86 at InsanelyMac and the OSX86 project page so you have some background of what you are getting into and the legal areas still being disputed
  2. Iatkos Site

  4. A very useful resource is this blog posts which not only documents the user’s pitfalls and several pathways to iatkos installation it also compares iatkoas and Kaliway: Installing OSX86 Part 1 – iATKOS v Kalyway
  5. Acronis Disk Director Suite is my partition management tool of choice – do not format the partition-let iatkos disk utility handle that

Pitfalls

  1. Be aware that when you burn an ISO to a DVD you don’t just copy the files-you will need to burn a disc image
  2. Be aware of Bootloader issues and tools such as EasyBCD and it’s Mac parallel rEfit
  3. Expect issues with your Graphic display and sound drivers such as discussed here and of OSX Driver resources as listed on the OSX 86 3rd Party Drivers Site
  4. For Graphic Display issues with Resolution SwitchResX has helped some people gain control of their display
  5. Double Command is a free tool discussed here for Mapping Windows keyboard strokes to Mac Values(Ctrl, Cmd, Option ect) it works particularly well with the Logitech Wave which has Windows and Mac keystroke values printed on the keys
